Caring for Aging Parents Made Easier with Mobile Dentistry – Brigid’s Story

Posted by Brandon Trevino in Blog | 0 comments

If you have a parent with dementia, you know all too well the challenges you face daily in making sure they are well cared for. There may be memory and mood issues to contend with as well as struggles with communication and even mobility. At times, the elderly individual with dementia may become uncooperative or even outright combative.

Now imagine an abscessed or a broken tooth causing your parent significant pain. Maybe they can communicate it to you but perhaps they can’t. Regardless, you can tell something is wrong. This situation will surely affect your parent’s ability to eat and drink comfortably and it needs to be addressed.

What can you do? Your parent needs dental care but this is 2019, dentists don’t make house calls. Or do they?

OnSite Dental DFW exists to make one challenge of caregiving easier – dental care. OnSite Dental DFW founder Dr. Brandon Treviño has dedicated a large portion of his dental practice to the care of the senior population.

How Does OnSite Dentistry Work?

At OnSite Dental DFW, we bring the dental appointment to you! We treat all seniors regardless of their health status. And the best part? We bring everything needed to them – in the comfort of their own surroundings. Whether the patient lives in their personal residence, an assisted-living or memory care community, OnSite Dental is fully mobile and equipped for any dental need, whether it be routine cleanings or comprehensive treatments, including extractions.

The equipment is compact and the need for space and additional lighting is minimal. A sink and an electrical outlet are all that’s required. X-rays are digital which allows Dr. T to immediately diagnose any issues and quickly address the problem.

Brigid’s Story

Brigid’s father Lee lives in an area assisted living facility. She is very involved in his care and visits him often. Lee needed significant dental work done including the repair of a bridge and the placement of a crown. After some research, Brigid discovered OnSite Dental DFW.

“One of the best things about OnSite Dental is that they take care of my dad right there in his assisted living facility, so I don’t have to transport him anywhere,” said Brigid. “It really helps with his comfort level.”

“Dr. Treviño and his assistant were so kind and gentle with my father, which I appreciated so much, because he has dementia and he’s often confused,” she added. “The work they had to do in his mouth was pretty significant but my dad was happy to let them because they were so patient and compassionate that he felt safe.”

If people are surprised to find this type of service exists, they are even more surprised to find out just how comprehensive the care is. In the comfort of your own setting, OnSite Dental DFW is able to provide:
