Call us today to add your loved one to the list! Here is a quick rundown of what their first visit will look like. FULL SERIES X-RAYS:  We begin all new residents with a full set of x-rays. Rampant decay in geriatric residents is from a mix of medications, high carbohydrate snacking, food debris, and lack of brushing and flossing. So, in the x-rays below you can see how quickly tooth decay can advance.  These pictures also show us if there is active infection that may not be causing pain for the resident. Many residents of memory care communities may not be able to verbalize their pain. X-rays reveal what our eyes cannot see and what a resident may not be able to voice. Therefore, this step is highly recommended to treat your loved one comprehensively.    ADULT PROPHYLAXIS/DENTAL CLEANING: Just as there are varying degrees of geriatric illnesses, there are varying dental cleanings to best suit each resident.  Our cleaning services for senior living and most assisted living residents include the use of a water device called a Piezo. For assisted living and memory care residents we use hand instruments to perform scaling of calculus and debris. And for residents who present unable to follow commands, we use limited scaling instruments and toothbrushing/flossing as tolerated.   COMPREHENSIVE EXAM: Dr. Trevino will schedule a follow up appointment to do the oral exam. During this visit, we will review x-rays and assess for treatment. That treatment is dependent upon what is necessary for their overall health.
